Welcome to Cuidigh Linn / Ait Na nDaoine

Cuidigh Linn are a service provider for older people living in Dundalk area. Cuidigh Linn deliver a wide range of supports. We also have a weekly visitation service situated at, 2 Grange close Muirhevna mor Dundalk. Our aim is to rekindle community spirit and to help the older person live safely and confidently in their own home.

The project is funded by the Department of Social Protection. we deal specifically with the older person and operate throughout the entire town of Dundalk. Cuidigh Linn featured on the RTE hit TV show, Secret Millionaire these videos can be viewed on our Gallery Section

Cuidigh Linn are a service provider for the older person. The outreach workers at Cuidigh Linn have recently qualified as Health Care Assistants. This qualification allows them to deliver a professional personal care service to our clients. The workers in Cuidigh linn have also completed Fetac level 6 Mental Health, through this qualification they are hoping to administer a mental health first aid to the community. Ait na nDaoine was set up to tackle poverty, unemployment and issues around social inclusion and to provide a resource centre to the Muirhevnamor community.  Ait na nDaoine also encourages and provides opportunities for people to become involved in training and education, especially Community Development and leadership.  Ait na nDaoine also supports the establishment of new groups to meet the needs of the area and to network to improve facilities.
Ait na nDaoine operates a resource centre in Muirhevnamor, providing CVs, typing and photocopying and provides education and training courses for the local community.

In addition to the home visits service we also have five maintenance workers. A request for home improvement is made from the client. The maintenance people will access and cost the work at a community price, both parties agreeing the work will be carried out. A follow up visit will be made to ensure complete satisfaction.

Cuidigh Linn is a broadly based service provider for older people living in Dundalk.  A range of supports will be delivered through a weekly visitation service.

  • The project will utilise its links with the community and with agencies to ensure that the needs of the older people are identified and met. 

  • It will act as an advocate for individual older people who are experiencing isolation

  • It will provide information on welfare entitlements, tax and financial issues, assistance in organising visits to Doctors, primary health services, public health nurses, etc. 

  • It will provide light household maintenance and DIY services.

  • It will assist older people to make links between them and the different services available in the local area, including social and active retirement groups

  • It will provide a support to older people in their own homes, combating social exclusion and isolation for this group, through social contact and advice and support around a range of issues. 

  • It will seek to address and identify any security issues and fears of elderly people. This is essential given the increase in anti-social behaviour.

  • Gardening

  • Gutters etc.
